Open Access: Dove Medical Press Publishes First Video Abstract
Dove Medical Press is delighted to announce the launch of video abstracts in their 100+ open access peer reviewed medical and scientific journals.
The first of these was published last week by authors Jean B Nachega, Michael J Mugavero, Michele Zeier, et al for their paper “Treatment simplification in HIV-infected adults as a strategy to prevent toxicity, improve adherence, quality of life and decrease healthcare costs” in the journal Patient Preference and Adherence.
The video abstracts are presented by the author, are of 1-4 minutes duration and give an overview of their paper, so readers can get an idea of the content and motivation behind the paper.
As papers are accepted for publication the author is contacted to give them the option of preparing a video abstract, which will be published along with their paper.
Tim Hill, Publisher at Dove Medical Press, says, “We have had an incredibly positive response from our authors about the introduction of video abstracts. I think these will really help to put a human face on the important research our authors devote their lives to, and should also help to increase the reader’s understanding and appreciation of the research.”Yi
More information and guidelines for these video abstracts are available on the Dove Medical Press website.
