Cultural Heritage: National Library of Latvia Announces Funding, Plans to Digitize Millions of Items

The Latvian National Library (LNB) in cooperation with national information agency LETA and technologies company Fitek in the coming 18 months will implement the project of digitization of the culture heritage co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
The library plans to digitize several millions of newspapers, books, pages of musical notes, documents of culture monuments from the stocks of the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Cultural Monuments (VKPAI), said LNB digital library head Arturs Zogla.
The agreement with LETA has been signed for a total sum of EUR 1.266 million [1.5 million/USD], while Fitek has been attracted as a sub-contractor.
