University of Minnesota Libraries Selects Contractor For Andersen Library Renovation and Remodel
From a News Release:
Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP) was recently selected as the contractor to renovate and remodel the University of Minnesota Andersen Library Special Collections Research Center & Rare Books Storage. The project will be completed in two parts – the first portion includes a 5,000 sf renovation of a Rare Book Storage Facility, as well as a 700 sf office remodel.
Work will take place in an underground, environmentally controlled, secure area which houses the University’s rare books collection.
The second portion of the project is a 12,000 sf renovation of the first floor of Andersen Library to create the new Special Collections Research Center. This new Center will provide both scholarly and general public access to the rare materials in the library’s collection. This space will also serve as an exhibit/gallery space with digitization labs, a reading room and areas for staff support. It is presumed that the library’s exclusive 1602 Ricci Map, in addition to other rare materials, will be on display in this new gallery.
